What does Dr.Lably's registration and billing do?
Dr.Lably is pathology lab software for diagnostic labs in India. Its patient registration and billing software puts patient details, tests and payment on one screen. Staff find returning patients by mobile number, add tests or packages, and take full or part payment. Each save creates a numbered bill and a printable receipt.

How to register and bill a patient in Dr.Lably

Enter the mobile number
A returning patient shows up at once. Select them and their name, age and gender fill in.

Add tests
Search tests, panels and packages in one box. Press / to jump to it from anywhere on the page.

Take payment
Pick Cash, UPI or Card and enter what the patient paid. Anything unpaid stays on the bill as a balance.

Save and print
Press Ctrl+Enter. Print the bill or send its details on WhatsApp, then press Enter for the next patient.
Dues and part payments
Take part payment now and collect the balance at report pickup
Every bill carries a status: Paid, Partial or Pending. Pending bills get an orange edge in the list, so reception spots them first. When the patient returns, collect the balance from the bill or from the Reports page.

Receipts and GST
Print receipts on A4, A5 or an 80mm thermal printer
Choose the paper size once in Print & reports settings. Diagnostic services are exempt from GST in India, so labs with a GSTIN can switch on Bill of Supply. The receipt then shows SAC 999316, "GST: Nil (exempt)", the exemption notification and a signatory line.
"Total Paid" appears only on a fully paid bill, so a receipt never shows money as paid before it is.

Questions labs ask about billing
Can Dr.Lably print on a thermal receipt printer?
Yes. Choose POS 80mm in Print & reports settings. A4 and A5 receipts are available too.
Do pathology labs charge GST on tests?
Diagnostic services are exempt from GST under Notification No. 12/2017-Central Tax (Rate), Sr. No. 74. Labs with a GSTIN can print a Bill of Supply, which states the exemption instead of adding tax.
Can I add a test after the bill is made?
Yes. Open the bill and add tests at any stage. The total and the balance update.
Does Dr.Lably take UPI payments?
The patient pays on your own UPI QR code or card machine. Dr.Lably records the mode with the UPI ID or transaction ID on the bill.
How much does billing cost?
